Community Programs Coordinator

Join Our Team!

Overview:

SouthPark Community Partners, an economic development nonprofit, seeks a community programs coordinator to support our mission-driven work to drive economic vitality, create memorable experiences, and ensure extraordinary quality of life in the SouthPark area.

Our work involves creating innovative programs like the SouthPark Skipper microtransit service, hosting beloved community events such as SouthPark After 5, and leading the SouthPark Forward 2035 Vision Plan.

We are excited to add a teammate who is passionate about SouthPark and Charlotte, highly motivated to serve the community, and eager to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will report to the Chief Strategy Officer and work collaboratively with the entire SCP team, its Board of Directors, and community partners.

The person who will thrive in this role will be motivated by: building relationships through face-to-face interactions and a client service perspective; taking on new challenges and projects; and shaping a high-growth startup organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Build relationships | In partnership with the SCP team, earn trust and build relationships with a wide array of stakeholders including business leaders, residents, workers, guests, and others.
  • Coordinate logistics and programs | Plan and support a variety of business- and consumer-facing events, such as SouthPark After 5 and bimonthly stakeholder meetings. Coordinate pre-event logistics and vendors, manage on-site activations, and serve as an ambassador for SCP’s brand and mission with the public.
  • Be a resource | Develop and maintain an expert understanding of the SouthPark district. Regularly share information with stakeholders that helps deepen understanding and emotional connections to SouthPark and SCP’s work through 1:1 meetings, email outreach, and research.
  • Support the team | Be a dynamic resource to extend SCP’s existing capacity by partnering with your teammates on projects across the organization’s program of work in areas such as marketing, placemaking, events, economic development, and urban planning.

What you’ll bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in project management, community relations, customer/client service, sales, communications, or related fields—or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • A bias toward action with high expectations for superior results
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build relationships and trust with diverse audiences
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • A passion for community building and a desire to engage SouthPark stakeholders as a public-facing representative for SCP’s mission and work
  • Experience with and/or curiosity about placemaking, economic development, community relations, and public policy

What we offer:

SouthPark Community Partners offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a company-sponsored retirement program; generous paid time off; and regular professional development opportunities. For the experience requested in this job description, the anticipated salary range is $50,000-$65,000.
