Filmmaker Julie Wyman embarks on a personal and political journey to understand her place within the Little People community as the meaning of dwarf identity evolves. Prompted by long-standing family rumors of “partial dwarfism,” Wyman explores questions of belonging, visibility, and self-definition.
Along the way, she connects with dwarf artists and activists who challenge dominant narratives surrounding disability, particularly in response to the growing use of height-altering pharmaceuticals. The Tallest Dwarf examines the tensions between medical intervention, cultural identity, and community autonomy, offering a nuanced look at how progress, choice, and representation are negotiated within marginalized communities.
