Save the date for the Annual Urban Hike on March 29th, 2026 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.! Each spring, Urban Hike takes us to a different neighborhood in Charlotte, where we walk and learn some little-known facts about Charlotte. This year’s Urban Hike takes us to Matthews, NC!
We’ll be hiking from the Matthews Heritage Museum in a 5-mile loop around Matthews, ending at Moo & Brew Matthews, which is next door to the museum. We’ll get to experience the old train depot, the Matthews Heritage Trail through the African-American settlement of Crestdale and the Four Mile Creek greenway (both current and future), among many other landmarks and surprises along the way.
All you need are some comfortable hiking or walking shoes with a bottle of water. Not only will you have fresh air & exercise, you’ll also have a new view of the past, present, & future of where we live. New citizens, visitors, or longtime residents are all welcome. Plus, it’s free!
