A Family Affair at Renaissance Patisserie

Meet Jessica and Chef Sylvain, the father-daughter duo behind one of SouthPark's favorite French bakeries.


What is one thing people should know about Renaissance Pâtisserie?

"We are a 12-year family-owned and operated business where each family member has their own special role to play. Chef Sylvain is the executive chef with over 50 years of experience in the culinary industry. His wife, Jo-Anne, manages all the books and HR and has been doing it full time since retiring from Bank of America after 40 years. Finally, their daughter Jessica manages the media and marketing part of the business while also managing the front of house."

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Chef Sylvain – "I enjoy cycling throughout the city of Charlotte and driving my 1929 Mercedes-Benz Gazelle. I often have it on display at the pâtisserie."

Jessica – "When I am not working at the pâtisserie, I am working on my clothing line that is designed and made right here in Charlotte. It's called Dominique Rivet and it's an up-and-coming sustainable womenswear line focusing on the beauty of textiles and natural fabric dyes."

What are your favorite SouthPark spots?

"As a family we really enjoy Bulla Gastrobar, BrickTop's, and Toscana. You can often find the Rivets hanging out at the bar in BrickTop's after a long, hard day's work."
